In addition to the world-renowned education your son or daughter will acquire while at Colorado School of Mines, we are also dedicated to helping them prepare for the world of work in which to use their skills. For most, the ultimate goal of a college education is a career that utilizes one's abilities and satisfies one's interests. This is the mission of the Mines Career Center - to offer educational and support services in the career journey of every student.
Career development begins from the time your student steps onto campus, with opportunities to develop a resume and interview skills that may translate quickly into a summer internship or undergraduate research opportunities.
Online resources including this Mines Career Center's website can be accessed at any time; students and parents may enjoy perusing our pages and the links available to other relevant sites. Once on campus, all students are added to DiggerNet, a password protected online recruiting system, rich in resources and job opportunities. Your student may choose to show you this feature on a visit home. Check out the Resource Library and ask your student for a tour of DiggerNet.
Workshops abound, taught by Mines career professionals and by visiting employer representatives. These workshops help students be ready for the networking and job discussions at our twice annually Career Day. These events are only for Mines current students and alumni.
One-on-one appointments with students are what really keeps our staff busy. Coaching to help students develop all the skills inherent in being a successful job seeker is available and highly encouraged. We look forward to working closely with Colorado School of Mines students from their first day in Golden, through graduation, and up to two years following graduation.
