Working while attending classes has advantages beyond helping with college tuition and expenses.
Students who work 10 hours or less a week while carrying a normal course load typically have no
problems with studying and maintaining a good GPA. In fact, working on-campus can help a student:

- Learn to organize tasks, enhancing abilities of prioritizing and time management,
- Develop a network (employers can be great mentors and future job references),
- Learn new skills (office or laboratory-specific),
- Develop critical work habits (supervisors can be flexible, yet encourage responsibility),
- Feel a greater connection with the community, (both with students and faculty/staff).
On-campus jobs are of two types - Work Study and other non-Work Study positions. Every employee of Mines, including students, must complete all Human Resources materials before beginning work.
